Hey,
So I bought unlock iphone from ebay.
When I try to sync into itunes, it says that sim card inserted not supported. Since i have that sim sheet that goes under the card, i can use t-mobile for it.
What do I need to do to be able to put itunes media and put apps into it?

Answer by OhWOW There is more to it then just unlocking it. By having it unlocked all it did was allow you to make calls on another carrier (T-Mobile).
Right now you are limited in use. You have to “jailbreak” the iPhone. There have been warnings in doing this, first I don’t know if it is legal, it voids your apple warrenty, and doing it can run the risk of distroying the phone.
So warnings aside, Jailbreaking your phone will open the entire iPhone file system for use and allow you to put your software into it. Answer by David Holm Your Iphone has some limitations. You cannot use it with other sim cards. Now with unlocking you can use it with other carriers too.
Now while selecting a jailbreaking or unlocking version consider the following points.
1. Whether the version is in tune with the iphone updates. We must make it sure because without an updated firmware our Iphone will not get unlocked and will have some problem or other.
2. Whether the version is offering after sales support. Without the support we may have to spend again and again.
3. Make sure it is reasonably priced.

i want to buy and iphone and unlock it myslef but i dont know where to start and if im capable of doing it. it cost almost 600 to buy one unlocked already and i dont want the phone for that much. any help would be appreciated thanks. Answer by rage43130 you can not unlock this phone on your own, unless you have the software which is going to cost you. Not an easy task, if you try with the software and mess up it will seriously mess up the iphone. Delicate technology.

I have iPhone 3G with 2.2.1 firmware (baseband 02.30.03) and locked to O2 UK. I googled “unlocking iphone” and got some websites who claim they can unlock any iphone (including 2.2.1 firmware) in minutes. Is it true? has anyone tried it. Thanks in advance

Answer by John Gregorio No, the only way to fix it is to plug it into iTunes and restore it. Plugging the iPhone into iTunes will not unlock it.
