I have iPhone 3G with 2.2.1 firmware (baseband 02.30.03) and locked to O2 UK. I googled “unlocking iphone” and got some websites who claim they can unlock any iphone (including 2.2.1 firmware) in minutes. Is it true? has anyone tried it. Thanks in advance

You probably will be better off using a purchased jail breaking software.
My son did this to the refurbished iPhone he bought without any problems.

Do it yourself for less then 7 quid. Go to ebay and type in Gevey Plus 2 iphone. This is a hardware sim unlocking device which is super easy to use and way safer then software unlocking . Most of all, it’s the ONLY way to unlock 2.2.1/2.30.03. Check it out. Good luck.
BTW, all the pro iphone unlockers use this in my area for that baseband/firmware. Software doesn’t work on it yet.
