Yes, you can get an unlocked Iphone..and I’m sure it will work in Greece.. Thing is AT&T is kinda getting pissed off that people are unlocking them.. So, they teamed up with Apple yet again..and after so many months they make you download an update on your phone.. (your phone will basically slow down..semi demanding the update) So, you hook it up to your computer..thinking all is well, and the download you get will shut your phone down due to the fact it can tell that your phone is not with the correct provider and it is in fact unlocked. So, it would be your best bet to switch carriers… or get you something similar to the Iphone with Tmobile

I have an iPhone and its apparently really complicated to get an unlocked one, because apple is constantly updating the iphone, and to activate it you have to go through AT&T, so I really don’t think you can.. maybe I am wrong.

You can definately unlock an iphone. I have unlocked 2 myself. I would suggest buying an unlocked iphone on ebay instead of taking it to a shop to have it unlocked. Get a 1.1.3 OTB (Out of box) iphone that way you dont have to worry about updating to get the features of 1.1.3. There isnt really any 1.1.4 features that are must have as of now.
Also when you open itunes you can set it to not update your phone and you will not have to worry about it installing new firmware and “Bricking” your iphone.
ModMyIFone.com is great for information about iphones. That is where I learned how to unlock the 2 i have done.
Sometimes you have to do a little bit of work to get it fully functional with other carriers because it is designed to work for ATT. The main features, phone, text, ipod, will work by just putting in the sim card. Sometimes people have difficulty with YouTube and features like that. Not necesary features in my mind but nice little extras.
I do not know if it works in greece.
If you are computer savvy you can do the unlock process yourself. Otherwise just buy one already done.
It took my about 15 minutes to unlock my latest iphone.
The 1.1.4 firmware came out on the 2/26. Today iNdepedence released their new software to upgrade to this firmware, activate the phone, jailbreak it and unlock it. This is how fast people are working to hack into these things.
Once new firmware comes out you have to be patient and youll be able to update your phone, if you dont want to risk anything just dont update it.

Hi there, I am not the tech-geek and had problems unlocking my iPhone to the new 1.1.4 firmware (released on Feb 25th) but this friendly guy on eBay was able to offer personal support & help me unlock the iPhone in minutes! He is apparently Ex-Devteam and also offered me lifetime updates and was simply an all-around good guy! Don’t risk damaging a 400$ phone over a measly 30$ unlock so if you need any help with your iPhone, I suggest going to him,
